Stephane Janine is a French photographer, who has been documenting Cambodia since 1990. Using wide angles and a close proximity to his subjects, Stephane captures an intimate portrayal of the lives he encounters in both urban and rural settings. He has a background in cinematography and photographic studies and has organized art and cultural events in French high schools between 1994 and 2004. In 2005, he established in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) the Popil PhotoGallery that features photo exhibitions from the region and a collection of permanent works of local photographers. In 2006 and 2007, Stephane led photography classes with Cambodian students. The work of the students is exhibited at the French Cultural Center in July and August, 2007.
