"GOLDEN SLUMBERS" PAYS TRIBUTE TO CLASSIC KHMER CINEMA
7PM: French-Cambodian filmmaker Davy Chou is the grandson of Van Chann, who was a renowned Khmer feature film producer in the 1960s and 70s. Chou's brandnew documentary GOLDEN SLUMBERS (2011, 90 mins, Khmer with English) offers a rare glimpse of the lost world of Cambodian cinema of this period. Before the Khmer Rouge Regime, the Cambodian film industry thrived, with over 300 films made during the Golden Era. Only a handful of surviving actors and filmmakers from the Golden Era are living today to give testimonies. Filmmaker will attend the screening (Q&A). It's followed by Professor Kinski's DJ Set, who mixes classic Cambodian 1960's pop with modern beats.
