NEPALESE CIVIL WAR AND “MAD ABOUT THE MEKON” FILMS AND DEBATE
 
4PM: DOCU - THE SARI SOLDIERS (2008, 92 min) tells an extraordinary story of courageous women who attempt to shape Nepal’s future in the midst of an escalating civil war against Maoist insurgents, and the King’s crackdown on civil liberties. 6PM: FILMS & DEBATE “MAD ABOUT THE MEKONG”- “International Day of Action For Rivers” invitrs to learn more about the proposed dams on the Mekong and the endangered Mekong Irrawaddy Dolphin. The documentary DAMNATION (2014, 87 min) explores the sea change in national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the call for dam removal as awareness grows that our own future is bound to the health of our rivers.
