STREET ART, CAMBODIAN ROCK & THE FIRST FILM AFTER POL POT
4PM: DOCU – Focusing on unauthorized sellers of graffiti artist Banksy's work, SAVING BANKSY (2017, 80 min) examines the conflicting philosophies of street art and profiteering. 7PM: DOCU – SLEEPWALKING THROUGH THE MEKONG (2005, 67 min) follows L.A. band “Dengue Fever” on their first Cambodian tour to perform 1960s Cambodian rock in the country where it was created and nearly destroyed. 8PM: DOCU – Two East German filmmakers were the first to get access to Cambodia after the fall of the Khmer Rouge in spring 1979. Their classic film KAMPUCHEA – DEATH & REBIRTH (1980, 90 min) features interviews with shell-shocked victims and a few of Pol Pot’s henchmen.
