RANA PLAZA DISASTER AND CAMBODIAN TEENAGER FILM “DIAMOND ISLAND”
4PM: DOCU - Some tragedies come so replete with their own symbolism they need no embellishment. The 2014 collapse of Dhaka’s Rana Plaza, a building full of clothing factories, was one of them. CLOTHES TO DIE FOR (2015, 58 min) tells the story of the Bangladeshi disaster, which took 1,134 lives. 7PM: CAMBODIAN TEENAGER FILM – Davy Chou’s DIAMOND ISLAND (2016, 101 min) follows the story of 18-year-old Bora, who is leaving his village to work as a construction worker on the luxury development site “Koh Pich”. The narrative feature debut of the French-Cambodian helmer is as much about its very specific Cambodian setting as it is the characters. Admission: 2 USD.
